When the Hoff bailed overboard on his part in a London production of Peter Pan last week, the Fonz set sail for Never-Never Land instead.
Soap-idol David Hasselhoff had been signed to play Captain Hook in a pantomime of the classic fairytale, but he pulled out in favour of a TV role.
So Jewish superstar Henry Winkler - best known for setting new heights in coolness as Arthur 'Fonzie' Fonzarelli in the 1970s TV show Happy Days - has donned the hook and eyepatch in his place.
'I love the Peter Pan story and I love Captain Hook. He's a villain but, hey, he had his hand bitten off by a crocodile – you have to feel some sympathy for the guy,' Winkler told the British press.
