The Old Farm Gate

We have many 'farm gates' here on this property. Most of them never get used. The gate in the pictures above leads down to the river. In the 4 years I have lived here I have never taken that trek, I have been told it is quite a trip - very rough and over grown, no real path and very very steep. Maybe one day before we leave I will get around to taking that trip, who knows....

As much as I am looking forward to moving back to Sydney, there are a few things I will miss about living here. I will miss the peace and quiet, the scenery, the quiet roads and I will miss seeing the cows come over to the farm gate, peering into our yard with their big brown eyes.

.... Just another day ....

is this the one the cows got through?

Don't your kids have the urge to explore?

Rafi, No, I think they simply walked up our driveway - that gate is always left open because the driveway is to steep to keep stopping the car - get out - shut(or open) the gate - and get back in the car again.

Littlebirdies, they probably would if given the chance, but because we live on the edge of a cliff with no real fences we can't leave the kids by themselves when they are outside for a start. They are pretty good though, they stay in the back yard and play in the cubby while I watch from inside - they are 'banned' from going anywhere else and have been told not to go near the gardens because thats where snakes hide(we get a lot of nasty snakes), so they are totally paranoid now!

You should take them on a 'nature hike'. I'm sure they'd enjoy. You have so much to see on your property. I would have been thrilled at that age.

I don't think I would ever want to leave your home if I lived there. It's so beautiful! I love the pictures you take.

Littlebirdies, yes, you are right, they probably would love it. :D

Frumhouse, thanks! It gets pretty boring though, it is beautiful but it is a long drive to anywhere.

I can understand that you'll be missing a great deal after the move. What beautiful, idyllic surroundings! Are you moving primarily to be closer to the Jewish community, or has being isolated gotten old for you and Aaron aside from that?

I look forward to coming to your blog and seeing all of your format tweaks!

Lorem Ipsum,
Thanks for showing me the way to your site - it is great and I have added you to my blogroll.

Raggedy,
yes that is the main reason for the move and the reason that started the idea of moving in the first place. But, now when I think about it - there isn't much to do here so it will be nice to be back in civilization too!
