Another Year Goes By - Happy Birthday...

Another year goes by... you are missed terribly.
Happy Birthday Mum.

The finger painted photo frame above was made by my Mum when she was in kindergarden as a present for my Grandmother, the photo is of my Mum when she was about 4 years old (about 1953).

.... Just another day ....

Thats why we have candle Memorials in the Jewish religion. This way the departed are not forgoten and can be remembered for who they were as people.

JBM, thank you :)

HT, yes and that is very special.

Crusty, thanks, it is indeed a day of great memories - except for the time when I was about 8 and I forgot Mums Birthday, when I got home from school I quickly got on my bike a went around to the shop to buy a Birthday card to pretend I hadn't forgotten, but she knew...

One of the most simple posts is also one of the most poignant. Enjoy your memories of who that little girl became to you!

Raggedy, 'Enjoy your memories of who that little girl became to you' that is a really beautiful way of putting it, thank you. :)

A beautiful post. I know what you mean about another year passing. I lost my father when I was 19, and the years pass, one by one, but it never gets any easier. Actually, as the years pass, I only miss him more. I have wonderful memories though, and I am most thankful for that.

Memories are an odd treasure, they grow more precious, the older we get.

Thanks for sharing your memories, they brought back some more of my own memories of my father, and that's a good thing.

Hi Elaine,
you are so right, it doesn't get any easier as the years go by, but like you, I also have many great and beautiful memories and to have them I feel very lucky.
Thanks for your comment :)

bittersweet, huh? to remember how loved your Mom made you feel, and at the same time to feel such overwhelming loss... I do like your blog. I am in the States, and wonder what baleboosteh is? Also curious about the ages of your daughters.

Mom's always know..as we now understand being parents ourselves.
I hope you don't mind, but I wrote about you briefly (a sentence or two) today in my blog.
Happy winter! It's 82 and sunny here in chicago, Illinois!
Always,
Crusty!

Hi Anon,
thanks for your comment and welcome to my blog! :D

My girls are aged 7, 5 and 3.

Baleboosteh is a yiddish word meaning an efficient, organized homemaker (I am a stay at home Mum, but I am not so sure about the organized or efficient bit!), it can also mean a bossy woman I believe, which pretty much fits me also!

Thanks for stopping by :D

Hi Crusty,
They do indeed! It is like some kind of 6th sense!

Of course I don't mind...maybe I should check to make sure it is something nice before I say that! Lol!

You are lucky to have sun at the moment, it was 2 degrees (thats really cold here!) when I went shopping this morning...brrrr
